Nike Basketball Festival in New York City! - USA Basketball - JRSportBrief

Custom Basketball Socks

Basketball is perhaps the most watched game worldwide after soccer of course. The NBA has popularized the sport further and it is the legendary stars who have given the game a form that is practiced throughout the world; it is also a popular freestyle game!

Basketball - The Game

A maximum of 15 players are allowed per side and a maximum of 5 players per side can play at a time. That makes it a total count of 10 players in the game at a time. The game is quite fast and adrenaline pumping and has some of the coolest moves in the world of sports. The most popular being the 'Slam Dunk' popularized by one of the legendary players of the game! The name is up to you to find out. Moving further, the game seems pretty simple with the main objective of having to 'basket' the ball into a loop attached to a post that is at a height of 10 feet from the ground.

The game in its inception days was rougher than what it is today and was a full contact game. However safe sports' laws and regulations have trimmed it down to being just a 'contact' sport and any form apparent or unusual body contact in the game is termed a 'foul'. It is really on faced paced and interesting game as the tallest people on earth battle it out to win the game!

The Uniform and Most Importantly, the Socks!

The basketball uniform is considered to be quite a 'hip' dress when you take loose vest t-shits and loose pants that hang down up to the knees. Unlike other games, the shorts are not that 'short' and neither is tight! The dress is kept loose deliberately so that free movement of the body can happen and the players can jump to astounding heights! Speaking about the dress in the game, the clothing material has to be really light and flexible. Cotton clothing is generally not used as it can get heavier with sweat. But a synthetic material is used which allows good aeration as well as good sweat absorption and faster sweat evaporation rates from the body.

The only thing that is perhaps made of cotton in the clothing is the socks. The socks are generally ankle length though some players also wear crew length socks. But unlike football where tube socks or calf length socks are the order of the day, in basketball socks are sufficient till the ankle length only. Custom made socks for basketball are thankfully available today.

These socks support the ankle quite well. (they have to, due to the innumerable twists and turns in the game, literally!) The major work of research and innovation in custom socks for basketball is in the ankle support. Though the socks are made of cotton, they are as flexible as any of the synthetic materials and they allow the feet to breathe at the same time. Basketball Uniforms

Basketball uniforms instill a sense of unity and team spirit. Standard basketball uniforms consist of sneakers, socks, tank-top shirts, and shorts. Many of the modern basketball uniforms are made up of lightweight and moisture-wicking materials. Thus, these uniforms offer ultimate body moisture management and temperature control.

All famous teams have their own traditional uniforms that make them famous. Basketball uniforms for men and women have the same basic designs. Each player's uniform has a number for identification, which is displayed on both sides of the shirt. Sometimes the name of the player is also displayed on the back of his shirt. The team name is imprinted across the chest. All teams have one or more alternate uniforms. The home team usually wears white or a light-color uniform, and the visiting team wears a dark color. Most teams upgrade their uniform designs each season.

Uniforms are usually well designed and are manufactured from synthetic fabrics like nylon, rayon, and polyester. Often, basketball uniforms are made of two layers in matching or contrasting colors. There are also uniforms made of polyester dazzle cloth, which looks like satin. The styles of basket ball uniforms vary widely from V-neck to round neck and from sleeveless to tank to cap-sleeved uniforms. Some basketball uniforms may feature mesh sides, which provide more aeration, or solid sides. Shorts are available in styles with drawstrings or elastic waistbands and also in reversible fabric. Basketball uniforms are available in all possible colors; some companies offer a pick-and-choose approach to designing your own uniforms like custom lettering.

NBA rules say that when each player is introduced, he must be uniformly dressed, and all coaches must wear a sport coat or suit coat. While on the court, players must keep their uniform shirts tucked into their pants, and no T-shirts are allowed. NBA rules prohibit shorts from being longer than one inch above the knee.

Most basketball uniforms are sold by the piece. Basketball uniform marketing has become a profitable industry, as more and more fans want to wear their favorite teams' jerseys.
